As our family grew, we dreamed of one day living on a wide stretch of land where we could connect with nature, build a legacy, and raise animals that reflect the values we hold dear. Our father’s lifelong passion has always been bison. They are majestic animals that represent strength, freedom, and the untamed spirit of the American frontier. In 2019, we were blessed to purchase our first hundred acres in Cleveland, South Carolina. What began as a dream has since grown into Big Balls Ranch; a thriving, family-run bison ranch rooted in hard work, respect for the land, and love for these incredible animals.
The story behind our unique name, Big Balls Ranch (BBR), is grounded in both family and humor. Our mother, the first lady of the ranch, wanted the name to honor both her and our father’s initials. With her creative spirit and a knack for decorating with wooden and grass balls around the house, she landed on “Big Balls Ranch.” While the name may turn heads, it means something deeper to us. Bison ranching requires grit, heart, and a willingness to take bold steps into the unknown. The name is a reflection of that fearless spirit—and the strength it takes to care for these wild, magnificent animals.
